Second CHALLENGE

This week’s challenge is to write a 200 word story
Imago -Velvet Touch:
“The message will get to her. Be safe.” Mrs. Aletta waves then closes the door behind her thinking about the lacuna in the room.
Her mother’s head peeks around the corner of the staircase, “He’s cute.”
“He is.”
“He seems sorry for something.” She presses with a small smirk.
“He is.” A miasmatic frown crosses Marie’s face.
“Want to talk about it?” Mrs. Aletta points to the kitchen, “I can get the oven mitts and a pillow.”
Marie smiles weakly, “Okay.”
Marie places her head delicately on the pillows as her mother lifts her hair to oscitate out over top. These mitts were specially made for her out of silk velvet so as it runs across her cheek, courses over her scalp and down her hair. It is the closest thing to human skin she can touch.
It’s soothing having the velvet rub her head in soft even strokes wiping her worries away. Seems funny that her relinquishing of worry is only possible with the synchronicity of her mother not feeling too emotional and luckily today is just a calm day where her mother’s only concern is in easing her only child’s problems. Marie can feel it; just the love.

It was nice to see the closeness between mother and daughter. I was wondering about the ‘closest thing to skin she could touch’ comment, though. Autism, maybe?

@Sonia Lal & @ Jen It is a sad story but its just an excerpt from my WIP and there is a loop hole to her condition.
@bridgetstraub , @Cheryl Sonnier @Joanna @Lady Jai Thank you for reading my peice, It has a kind of traquility in it and I am glad that came across for you all.
@Nadja Notariani , the part where its the closest thing to skin she can touch is because she can’t actually touch anyone, her condition in my story is that anyone who touches her transfers their inner pain to her (so basically she absorbs other peoples pain through touch)
@Fesewell yup she pretty much feels love for so many people but can’t express her love or have love expressed to her by physical touch, velvet gloves is the closest thing she gets.
@LadyGwen A short story isn’t complete without it leaving you thinking but in a good way, I hope. Thax for stopping by!
