NYFA-FashionShowPosterJust last Saturday on April, 9th 2011 the soon to be graduating class of the New York Fashion Academy(NYFA) in Ballard Seattle showed off their designs to a packed house at their 7th annual Runway Fashion Show. On the lower level of the NYFA’s campus they pulled together their drafting tables, splashed on some fresh paint, and lined them with tube lights to create a fashion exciting runway surrounded by over 200 seats. While the first floor was jammed with eager faces the second floor was scrambling with over 150 people preparing the show including the designers, models, dressers, make-up artists, hair stylists, assistants, photographers, and more. It took nearly as many people behind the scenes as there were people in the audience waiting to see it first show.

The designers featured were:

Fancyhawk Lingerie by Caitlyn Petitelere

Gina Marie by Gina Moorhead

Indismith by Timothy Cambell

Swift Seas by Katy Flynn

KreatiKa by Kathy Sabin-Mensah

The show had everything from resort wear with Swift Seas, evening wear with KreatiKa, Lingerie with Fancyhawk, to a men’s line with Indismith and even men with a little something extra in heels and fishnet with Shade. This year’s graduating class had it all not to mention a huge stress relief to have all that hard work come to fruition.

Their journey in building their line started in October with many ideas on top of their school load. They spent unthinkable hours and days extra putting it together and fundraising for enough support to bring the lights up and turn the music on for their opening act with a silent auction.

Indismith

I decided to be a part of their entrance into the fashion community by volunteering my photography with my handy Nikkon D90 in hopes that maybe my photos will help them in the Seamless in Seattle competition. Hope you enjoy them and maybe you’ll be attending the 8th Annual Fashion Show to see the next generation for yourself? Speaking of Seamless in Seattle 2010 last years winners were from this very school NYFA: Katie Chrisman, Camille Goodman, and Molly Griffith. Speaking of Camille Goodman she participated in this years fashion show as one of the models for Fancyhawk Lingerie., unfortunately I can not show her picture because she did not give me permission to but who knows maybe she will post it to her Millie Vixen website and you can read all about it.

Does the idea that yours truly will have her design up and running for the 8th annual get you more excited to go? Well it should you fashion gurus you! I’ll keep you posted when the 2011 fashion show designers put up shop for your viewing and buying pleasure.

Enjoy
