    Tuesday Tales WINNER 62!

    Challenge #62

By entering, every contestant agrees to shamelessly promote and praise the winner on twitter.

For all discussions about this challenge use hash tag #TuesdayTales

I am happy to have this week’s Tuesdaytales Judgemasters take over:

Ruth & Rebekah’s comments: What a fiery riot we had judging this contest together. We take special pride in noting that our top three picks were identical–not one smidge of negotiation required!–confirming our long-held suspicions that we are Dragons of Excellent Taste.

And without further ado, on to the winners!

Special Award given by Rebekah: Sparkly, jewel-encrusted props to my valiant co-judge Bullish for offering up such a deliciously compelling dragon!!!! This one’s going on my actual wall.

Reba @rrkovar – We love how seamlessly this story incorporated both prompts in unexpected ways. The juxtaposition of good fortune and ruination is wonderfully surprising. The story voice is so engaging and the characters and storyline so compelling it’s hard to believe it’s contained in a mere 100 words!!

Miranda Kate @PurpleQueenNL: This story’s great writing and humor practically knocked our claws off. We loved the setup of creatures permitted to change form on Halloween and the way you expressed the MC’s dragonish voice–at once violent and vain–in such a tight space without making it feel tight. Really well done!

    Ruler of #MenageMonday flashfiction challenge
& SIX time winner of #tuesdaytales

Cara Michaels @caramichaels: Dragon dreams perfectly framed this powerful, emotional piece. We loved how the dancer’s dreams and private rebellion set her apart from the rest of the chorus line. The vignette is wistful and so very beautifully crafted—abundantly worthy of the top dragon award.

I dreamed of dragons. Thousands of silver sequins hand sewn on my costume reminded me of nothing so much as scales. And as we girls danced across the stage in synchronous motion, I pictured a serpentine form rousing.

“Cut!” the director bellowed. “Girls. Darlings. You’re a chorus line, remember? The next one who steps out knows where to find the door. Now from the top, please.”

I ignored the nervous twittering of the other dancers and focused on the music. And when the men joined in, when they lifted me to the sky, soaring high… again I dreamed of dragons.

    100 words

Everyone spread the word of the HMS: the winner and both @postupak & @bullishink for the awesome judgemastery!
